On the 14th of November BBi Communication participated in the roundtable “Diversity management and Intercultural competence” at FactorW, one of the most important events in Spain regarding diversity, equality and gender issues. Next to the representatives of Renault, Sodexo, SAP and Repsol, our Regional director Nina Heindrichs, shared her experience and knowledge on this topic.

Nina mentioned the growing number of organisations in Spain that are deciding to discuss and promote cultural diversity in their company. They no longer only offer cultural adaptation programs for expatriates, but also training courses for international teams and leaders of multicultural teams, as well as business managers who frequently communicate and negotiate with cultures that differ from their own.

It was highlighted that intercultural competence is not to be mistaken for an innate ability. In order for an organisation to be successful in diversity management, training and awareness courses are fundamental and only when the company accepts these qualities as a requirement, can it be said that we are going in the right direction.
